“Monk” had a bit of a rough patch in the fifth season — some of the episodes simply didn’t gel, and Monk’s OCD was written strangely. Tony Shalhoub is lovably oddballish as Adrian Monk, never turning his tragicomic character into a cartoon — you objective want to hug Monk and give him some perfectly symmetrical cookies. Traylor Howard does a solid job as Monk’s assistant, and Levine gets to indicate Stottlemeyer’s warmer, laid-back sides, while Jason Gray-Stanford is consistently fun as the puppy-eager Randy Disher — even getting to affirm a Johnny-Cash-style song about Monk’s apparent demise.

This review is dedicated in the memory of Stanley Kamel who played Dr. Charles Kroger in the first 6 seasons of Monk. Stanley Kamel sadly passed away in April of 2008. He was a deeply talented character actor and he will be missed on Monk.
In general as a reveal goes on it doesn’t rep better, but there are exceptions; some shows like The Shield seem to gather better each season and Monk while maybe not getting better is collected unprejudiced as pleasant now as it ever was. After the first half of season 3 ended Sharona was out as Monk’s assistant and Traylor Howard as Natalie was in. I understanding that gave Monk a great needed jolt and helped retain things novel. In many ways it was like starting over again.
A lot of critics felt season 3 was a letdown, I disagree; the 2nd half of Season 3 are in my conception some of the best episodes of the series. After that the 4th and 5th seasons while very genuine and had some of my popular episodes of the series also featured some of the weaker ones as well, but I mild liked both those seasons as a whole more than the first and 2nd. Season 4 & 5 are estimable they honest lacked slightly despite being every bit as expedient as the previous seasons. The best map to do it I boom is Seasons 4 & 5 had some of the best episodes, and a few that were gracious that honest fell slightly short of greatness and a few sub-par episodes. But again I loved both those seasons and liked them more than the first 2 Seasons, which were also big.
But Season 6 of Monk really gets things aid on track and features some of the very best episodes of the series. Each season of Monk has that one or 2 episodes that are sort of duds. Even a customary episode of Monk unexcited has comical moments, and while there are a couple of episodes that tumble short as a whole though Season 6 is as beneficial as any of the previous 5, which is rare that a series this leisurely into the game can composed remain impartial as advantageous.
The plan aloof works well, which is a credit to not only the writers, but more so to the actors who catch this material that we’ve seen done many times over and get it impartial as comic now as when the explain first started. Ted Levine is colossal as Captain Leland Stottlemeyer, he’s one of the few that actually understands Monk and any scene he has with Jason Gray-Stanford as Lt. Randy can be kind of wearisome a lot of the times, but he’s so damn silly. In many ways Jason Gray-Stanford steals the explain every episode he never fails to beget me laugh.

But of course above all Tony Shalhoub as Adrian Monk is the show; in my view Tony Shalhoub is without a doubt the best comedic actor on TV and in Hollywood in general. While Monk is a very comic indicate sometimes people forget how tragic the demonstrate is. Monk always had OCD, but it wasn’t too poor until the death of his wife. In the comedy there is also a lot of tragedy and Shalhoub is simply gleaming.
Monk Season 6 was overall a huge season with some of the very best episodes of the series. Clichéd episode, but really funny; Snoop Dog guest stars as a rapper under a destroy investigation. Seeing Mr. Monk in the Hip-Hop culture was hysterical. Yeah it’s a clichéd view, but it’s damn amusing.
MR. MONK AND THE NAKED MAN- ***
Each season of Monk seems to have that one dud and this is one of them; after a listless body is found a nude beach Monk is brought in to assist with the case. Monk and nudists are flow for some laughs, but overall the episode falls flat and the comedy was a bit too over the top. Not all is lost there’s actually a decent twist on who the killer is and some amusing moments.
MR. MONK AND THE Poor GIRLFRIEND- **** ½
Excellent episode with plenty of laughs; the killer is positive, but trying to figure out how they did it was the best share. This is something lacking from Monk the past couple of years. The ending is a bit tragic, but mammoth episode.
MR. MONK AND THE BIRDS AND THE BEES- ***
This episode was weak; we know who the killer is and how they did it; therefore it’s not as fun. There are some agreeable moments, but overall it honest doesn’t fully work; in my understanding this was the weakest of the season; not abominable or anything, but doesn’t quite work.
MR. MONK AND THE BURIED TREASURE- *****
Classic episode of Monk; this one has Dr. Kroger’s son seeking Monk’s abet finding what he thinks is a buried like, only he doesn’t notify Monk what he’s in search for he tells him it’s a school project. I wasn’t expecting grand, but it turned out to be one of my well-liked episodes. The final act with Monk and Kroger’s son trapped in a car buried in gravel was hysterical.
MR. MONK AND THE DAREDEVIL- *** ½
Good episode that features Monk’s arch rival Harold Krenshaw played by Tim Bagley; both Monk and Harold want to be the center of Dr. Kroger’s attention and this episode has the two at it again. Not the best episode of the season, but with Monk and Harold laughs are hump to happen.
MR. MONK AND THE Rank MAN- ****
Solid episode that has a man Monk locked away for a double slay is now cleared due to DNA; but is this guy really innocent? Humorous episode like the previous not one of the best, but very savory without a unimaginative moment.
MR. MONK IS UP ALL NIGHT- **** ½
Starts off tiring,, but once it gets going it gets really good; this one is very noteworthy a mystery and figuring out what happened is a lot of fun. Besides the mystery there are also a lot of amusing moments.
MR. MONK AND THE MAN WHO SHOT SANTA CLAUS- *****
Classic episode of Monk; This is the 3rd Christmas episode of the series and it’s probably the best one and one of my well-liked episodes of the series; From beginning to raze this one is a blast. Seeing Monk and Santa Claus fighting each other was honest too amusing.
MR. MONK JOINS A CULT- *** ½- Apt episode with some comic moments, but as a whole it slightly lacks; Detached worth watching though.
MR. MONK GOES TO THE BANK- ****- Classic Monk; this is one of the best episodes of the series with a solid twist at the end; the final few minutes are hysterical; Randy Disher steals the point to in this one.
MR. MONK AND THE THREE JULIES- *****- Possibly the best episode of the season and one of the best of the series; this one has a killer on the loose murdering women with the name Julie Teeger, which of course is the name of Natalie’s teenage daughter. The sage is gracious with huge mystery and an profitable twist and it’s one of the funniest Monk episodes.
MR. MONK PAINTS HIS MASTERPIECE- ****- Another episode I wasn’t expecting too distinguished out of, but it turned out excellent; while not the strongest episode of the season it’s a lot of fun. Sadly this is the last episode that Stanley Kamel appeared on due to his death.
MR. MONK IS ON THE Speed Fraction I- *****- The enormous thing about Monk is you can resplendent powerful sight any episode of any season and luxuriate in it and not be lost. But they do have one running narrative arc on this show; the assassinate of Monk’s wife Trudy; and accurate here is one of the Trudy episodes. This one has Monk the prance of who killed his wife, but before he can earn answers the man is killed and Monk is the suspect. Obviously we know Monk is innocent even though it looks as if he did pull the trigger. This episode is one of the best of the series; it’s comic and dramatic with an marvelous twist and an ending that will have you begging for more.
MR. MONK IS ON THE Accelerate Fragment II- *****- Grand season finale; it’s silly, dramatic and suspenseful. After this episode Monk gets one step closer to solving the slay of his wife. The season started off mountainous and ended gigantic.

Highest Recommendation
This was a series that had everything a Science-fiction fan could want. It had an enigmatic & tormented main character Duncan McCloud, played superbly by English actor Adrian Paul. Each episode had plenty of angst, action, suspense, lovely locations, & a beautiful amount of romance.
This season saw the ever beneficial immortal Duncan McCloud having to deal with Tessa’s death, Richie’s modern found immortality, facing the mutually repressed feelings he & fellow immortal Amanda have for one another, & the first multi-episode tale bright Methos, the oldest known living immortal. These episodes showed an intruiging peer into male bonding & the angst that friedship can bring to all concerned. From episode one “The Samurai” to episode nine “Shadows” to the “Finale” episodes numbers twenty one to two. They all spotlighted & magnified the human condition that was relatable even to we non-immortals. Would any of us really want to live forever?

Definitely feeling the effects of the economy and it’s the beginning of a long winter in Chicago. I needed a suited movie to come by me out of myself and what better intention to obtain away from the doldrums then with some very un-dull drumming.

Devin clashes with Dr. Lee and with the drumline’s student leader, Sean — who’d been the best drummer until Devin showed up. But Devin has an undeniably rich and creative spirit. Can he fit in without losing his individuality — a quiz we observe from trusty life. When does compromising have benefits and when not? Despite Devin’s cockiness, he’s a very likable guy and wanting to know how he resolves this remark carried me easily through this two hour movie.
Orlando Jones also makes the movie flee. As Dr. Lee, he’s the personification of principled decency — in fact, he’s awesome and will totally produce you forget those 7 Up commercials. In the beginning, a rival bandleader alleges that Dr. Lee has a baton stuck up his … well, you don’t hear it, but he probably didn’t say “bass.” But, as the myth progresses, Dr. Lee reveals himself to be an attractive and complex personality who, despite a propensity for “mature time music”, does indeed know how to produce his band pop. (And, in the waste, he comes up with a stylistic triumph that evokes more than those “conventional time” tunes.)
Devin’s ups and downs are somewhat predictable, but this is one of those movies with a feel-good factor that made me contented to overlook that completely. The music and moves electrify. Nothing could have peeled me from my seat during the story’s culmination in the BET marching band championship. I had to remind myself that I was in a movie theater to sustain from cheering from our “stadium” seating. Although the movie is rated PG-13, it’s appropriate for most ages. I don’t prefer any cursing, Devin’s scenes with his girlfriend are very chaste and there’s a brief scene of non-graphic fisticuffs. If you’re a fan of percussion, you’ll really appreciate this movie. But even if not, and you’re fair looking for a seasonal up-lift, well, it can’t be … beat.

The “Vital Need” fund, spot up to aid Wal-Mart employees in emergencies, received five million dollars from Wal-Mart employees (making $13,861.00 annually) and only $6,000.00 from the Walton family, who made, collectively, 102 billion.
Wal-Mart actually had a commercial campaign about “buying American” while all their products reach from sweatshops overseas.
Wal-Mart has refused to address crime statistics that demonstrate an upswing of violent crime in their substantial, remote, under-lit and un-protected parking lots, putting their customers in wretchedness and taxing the local law enforcement. The Region of California alone paid out 80 Million dollars in medical benefits to poverty-level Wal-Mart employees because the 102 Billion Dollar Walton family does not want to give their “associates” aesthetic medical benefits.
There are many ways to despise Wal-Mart and its ilk, and many books out on the subject, but I recommend watching this DVD so you can actually leer the slave workers and conditions overseas that these selfish billionaires exploit without passing down their profit to the “shrimp people” who helped form their empire. The presentation could have aged a miniature more snappiness, and the DVD starts out very lifeless, but maintain watching and you will eventually survey the monster peeking out from gradual your curtain.
Stop shopping at Wal-Mart. Honest cessation. You don’t need their cheap goods that drop apart two days after you bring them home, and it feels pleasant to know that you get a inequity by not supporting slavery. Like!

Recently, a friend and I were discussing educational and ethical influences when we were growing up in the 1950’s versus today. She mentioned Samuel Taylor Coleridge, who, in 1798, wrote The Rime of The Extinct Mariner. Both of us had been required to recite parts of the myth poem in high school and in English Literature courses in college. My friend said, “Its messages even might be called metaphysical within today’s context.”

We tried reciting it and only remembered bits and pieces. (I have problems remembering Dr. Seuss.) I said I’d acquire two copies of the poem so each could read it. That was easy enough, but I was extremely surprised to salvage it had been made into a film. We looked forward to watching the film to ogle how it had been interpreted. After all, The Rime of the Used Mariner isn’t exactly light reading. After each had read the poem, we watched the film together.
We considered the film a worthy achievement, especially considering it was made in the 1970’s, before computers, before the so-called “Ken Burns finish,” and before special effects too often began compensating for a lack of substance. Particularly remarkable are the 19th and 20th century illustrations culled from “lesser known artists,” such as Willy Pogany, the early Hollywood designer.

The film is narrated by Sir Michael Redgrave, whom had taught the poem when he was a schoolmaster, adding a tone of authority and credibility in remaining fair to the poem.
Its mastery is in the layers of subtle messages, conveyed without “instructing,” or becoming an oppressive and distinct morality story. We found it such a refreshing change from today’s ‘in your face’ and ‘clobber them over the head’ mentality. Most of today’s morality messages in film are two-dimensional: obscene violence, kill and mayhem ticket the awful. The unpleasant are really, really, unpleasant, and valid are orderly heroes. It is as if human character lacked any nuance. The Rime of The Broken-down Mariner is a celebration of the individual, of character, of an appreciation for celebrating all the richness life has to offer, within the larger context of humanity, i.e., man’s capacity to give to others.
Proud of ourselves for having found this “unknown” gem, we then learned it had won the top award in its category five out of six times at “name” international film festivals. Another surprise was learning the film’s director, Raul daSilva, is a recognized authority on early animation, and authored six award winning books about film.
This film’s message is honest as relevant today, if not more so, than when Coleridge penned the fresh narrative poem and when Raul daSilva translated it to film. If I unexcited was teaching high school, which I did for five years, I’d grab this one and prove it to all my students. There’s a level of richness here that naturally leads to discussion about the spacious and necessary issues all of us face, whether in 1798, 1978, or today–in fact, as long as humanity has a spiritual component.

I highly recommend this video to individuals, public libraries and for high school and college classic literature classes. This is an apt film in which creative visualization of a classic poem makes it arrive alive. We feel the dynamics of the Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s words as spoken by the Veteran Mariner. It is as if we are both the listener and the Mariner. When the dumb albatross falls from the Mariner’s neck, we feel we also were transformed through adore in our hearts and concept of our fellow humans. We have hope for a better outcome to the struggles we face in our bear world of war and violence. Director Raul daSilva did an outstanding job in making this poem not only understandable but also to infuriate our sensitivity. The incorporation of Doré’s illustrations, visual effects of colors, the well-chosen classical music and sounds of the sea all enhanced our senses and deepened our emotional experience with the poem. BRAVO to daSilva and his team. Well done!!

I was always hoping that 20th Century Fox would release the entire Porky’s Trilogy on DVD some day. Well after re-release after re-release of the first film on DVD and the second film only available in a 2-pack with the first film, FOX finally did it. However I was disappointed with the special features. I am gay that a commentary by director (the unhurried) Bob Clark was included, but I was also hoping that we would hear from some of the boys from Angel Beach. Getting their thoughts on being interested in one of the funniest film franchises in history would have been very tantalizing and droll at the same time. I also had hoped for a documentary with the actors, it would have been nice to examine what they do and scrutinize like now while they talk about the films. But unfortunately all we got was a 15 shrimp mini-documentary from Bob Clark on his thoughts (and those were only on the first film in the trilogy) . A second puny documentary was included with the first disc with a couple of comedians giving their thoughts on the first movie (why we hear from them and not the actors beats the hell out of me) .

Still for anyone who has ever grown up with these films or is honest getting into them, coming across the entire trilogy on DVD for a profitable label is a stout opportunity. If you are in your local Wal-Mart and you glean it for $[…] I wouldn’t pass it up (that is if you haven’t bought it ancient on Amazon.com) .
Well as I said with the Revenge Of The Nerds Collection, so do I say with Porky’s. I am ecstatic that Fox Home Video FINALLY got ALL three Porky’s movies out on DVD. I loved watching all three and deem that all of them are classics! The first one is without a shadow of a doubt comical. The second one was somewhat frosty….but the third one was a shrimp bit different than the other two. But, it was the only one that didn’t score DVD recognition which to me is why it needed it and I am cheerful FOX did that. Luxuriate In!!!

So how did such a mediocre film warrant six sequels (here’s a hint…it’s all about the money)? There’s the novel. Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1993), Children of the Corn III (1995), Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering (1996), Children of the Corn V: Fields of Horror (1998), Children of the Corn 666: Isaac’s Return (1999), and Children of the Corn: Revelation (2001) …that’s a lot of corn, or as the Native Americans call it, maize…I’ve seen the modern, but not the subsequent sequels…my gut instinct tells me to avoid them. Children of the Corn, aka Stephen King’s Children of the Corn (1984), directed by Fritz Kiersch (Tuff Turf, Gor) features a solid cast including Peter Horton (”thirtysomething”) and Linda Hamilton (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) . Also appearing is R.G. Armstrong (Dick Tracy), Courtney Gains (Colors, The ‘burbs) and John Franklin, who appeared 1991 film The Addams Family, along with its’ 1993 sequel, as the very hairy Cousin Itt.

The film, which primarily takes spot in the exiguous farming town of Gatlin, Nebraska, begins with a flashback, relating a particularly unpleasant incident in where the children depopulate the town of nearly all adults through a proper passe fashion bloodbath. Rapid forward three years to the exhibit, and we have Burton (Horton) and his girlfriend Vicky (Hamilton) traveling through the Midwest as Burton has recently graduated from med school, and has been offered an internship somewhere…but that’s neither here nor there as the pair gain lost, have an accident, and soon gain themselves looking for assist in Gatlin…but guess what? Gatlin appears all but deserted…except for the children, who’ve formed some kind of unusual cult, led by the incredibly creepy man-child Isaac (Franklin) . Initially their idolatry seems to be centered on the corn, but later we learn it’s not so mighty the corn as what lurks under the corn. Burton and Vicky soon get themselves in a world of worry, as the corn is thirsting for holy sacrifices, and they’re at the top of the list (I wouldn’t mind initiating a religious ceremony with that Linda Hamilton…that is the soft and sexy Linda from the recent Terminator movie, not the bony and intensely scary Linda from T2: Judgment Day) …
The film is based on a Stephen King short sage taken from his book Night Shift, which I’ve never read, but I have read a number of his other books, many of which were later adapted to film, with varying degrees of success…anyone else besides me sit through Maximum Overdrive? Okay, Children of the Corn isn’t as poor as that was, but it is lacking something…it’s not the acting…Horton, whom I abominate for no other reason than he was on that TV present `thirtysomething’ was actually lovely helpful. As far as Linda Hamilton, well, I judge she’s a helpful actress, provided she’s given something to work with, and that wasn’t the case here. The accurate fun is watching the performances of Franklin and Gains, as Isaac and Malachai, respectively. Franklin is extremely disconcerting as the leader of the group, mainly because his appearance is that of a child, but a closer notice would do you mediate twice as his face and shriek seem to present some mighty older. Turns out Franklin, who suffered from some sort of hormone deficiency, was actually remarkable older, like 23 at the time of the film’s release. As far as Gains, he presents the most intense performance as Isaac’s enforcer and just hand man, but I felt like he got into it fair a microscopic too distinguished (in the featurette Gains speaks of his craft and how he brought his character to the conceal…I do delight in it when actors give to the mask, but I contemplate Gains took his modest role a bit too seriously, trying to fabricate more of it than it was…but since the production in general was exquisite bland, this overacting wasn’t necessarily unwelcome) . These two guys advance off really pleasurable as the antagonists, mainly because they’re so completely annoying I wanted to beat them both to a pulp (wait for the scene when Malachai is walking down the center of the street calling for Burton to advance out, yelling `Outlander!”…you’ll understand what I mean by annoying) . As far as the direction, I have no staunch complaints, as Kiersch seems ample…in the featurette he speaks a lot of what he was trying to effect with regards to the sense of direction, and in some areas I believe he met his goal, but others I consider his aspirations extended beyond his capabilities. So what’s the quandary with the film? It’s the epic…well, not the new tale, but the adaptation of the legend. As I said, I’m familiar with many of King’s works, and I know he takes a lot of time to craft his tales, utilizing detail like it was going out of style. I deem one of the things that makes his narrative so common is his ability to paint a visual using words…and he also seems to do this in terms that are accessible to an extremely wide audience. And I consider this is a main factor that ends up hurting many of the films that are adapted from his novels…they lack the focus on what’s valuable to the legend. I reflect this is why we are seeing his more unique works produced as television mini-series…because more time can be spent developing the yarn and presenting the details, in my thought.

The Divimax edition, released by Anchor Bay Entertainment features a really challenging looking wide hide (1.85:1) print, enhanced for 16 X 9 TV’s, and the audio is exceptionally sure and crisp. Special features include a unique 39 puny documentary titled Harvesting Alarm, an audio commentary by the director, the producer, actors Franklin and Gains, trailer, poster and calm gallery, screenplay, storyboard art, title sequence art, and a mini reproduction of poster for the film inside the DVD case.

What’s to like? Well, what has always struck me is how well the children are adapted to the surroundings. I actually Maintain that these children lived in Gatlin “before” the filming of the movie. They seem very at home and the cramped town feel is somehow legitimate. The sound is very first-rate for an older flick, being given the 5.1 treatment, and the salvage itself is practially worth seeing the movie for… I unbiased like that chanting “Omen-ish” find, always have. The transfer I’d say is above average, though in places it falters a bit, there is also a delicate insert book that comes with it which is modern for a rather lowbudget movie. I really like all the leads here, specifically the peer on young Sarah’s face when “Vickie” is taken out to the clearing, she honestly looks to be in terror, I almost feel sorry for the young actress.
What’s to abominate? Well, aside from the uncommon smalltown feel there really aren’t many chills from a alarm movie standpoint. Also, I’ve never really liked the slay, often turning it off b4 the dreadful CG ending, but hey, this is ‘84 afterall.
If you have a few dollars and are looking for a somewhat surreal peep at microscopic town life, you could do worse than giving Children Of The Corn a eye.

An organization helps young girls on the brink of death, but the cost is a hefty one. While they do set aside the girls lives they are old-fashioned as assassins and build in high risk situations. Each girl is save into a group of two people which they utilize the italian word for brother and sister to call them by. These girls though have stronger feelings for their “brother” than any family relation. It’s a black and complicated tale with action scenes, but they are not the main focus. It’s short being only 12 to 13 episodes, but it is very grand. The art work gives a dull feel which fits to the fable and helps procedure you into the characters. It’s also fairly depressing so be prepared for that. This is a must have for my anime blu-ray collection and is better than the second series. I do recommend this title to anyone who is eager in memoir driven animes.
